In 1937 the company Monet Jewelers was established. Many of the pieces made during this era were all metal but some designs included enameling, glass cabochons, and/or rhinestones. A dangling metal hang tag reading “Monet Jewelers” was used on necklaces and some bracelets from this era.
Early earrings were made with screw-backs and clip styles patented by others until 1943 when the friction ear clip was invented by Michael Chernow. This style of adjustable springless clip with a grooved paddle-style back was used by Monet from that point forward.
